Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s opening remarks at a meeting with President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Nur-Sultan, October 9, 2019

Esteemed Mr Kassym-Jomart Tokayev,

Thank you very much for receiving me during my visit to Nur-Sultan.

Today, we discussed in detail bilateral issues and cooperation in the international arena. We were guided by the agreements reached by the heads of state on these issues. We are convinced that we are moving forward at a good pace and cooperating in more and more areas. Therefore, we share the opinion that the rate of developing our relations at the top level should be a reliable guide for cooperation in all areas.

We discussed specific goals for foreign policy coordination at the bilateral level and within different agencies: the CIS, the CSTO, the SCO, the EAEU and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

We know exactly where we stand and have a clear schedule for further strengthening our cooperation. Guided by our instructions from the heads of state, we will maintain close cooperation.
