Monumet to Soviet pilots installed in Errol
On 11th November 2020 the memorial to the Soviet pilots, who fought during World War II and took part in the joint Soviet-British secret operation ‘Albemarle’, has been installed in Errol, Scotland. The event also commemorated the 75th Anniversary of Victory over Nazi Germany.
Russian Ambassador Andrei Kelin and Consul General in Edinburgh Andrey Yakovlev laid wreaths to the installed Remembrance Stone, as well as to the memorial plaque at the former Errol Airfield.
Ron Gillies, head of installation works in Errol, and Morris Leslie, Director of the Morris Leslie Group and owner of former RAF Errol Airfield also took part in the symbolic wreath-laying ceremony.
